Kelsey and Sean met in Elementary school but really got to know each other later in high school and eventually ended up falling for each other. They settled on a wedding in Palm Springs at La Quinta Resort where family had spent special vacations growing up. We quickly learned that Kelsey and Sean were drawn toward the untraditional which of course always excites us and starts our wheels turning! Upon discovering they had a mutual love for ancient history we were inspired to bring the past into the present for their wedding day! Our groom Sean had been fascinated by the Roman era and our bride Kelsey had traveled to Egypt years earlier and found a deep appreciation for ancient Egyptian culture. Paired with her passion for leopard print we created a concept of Paper & Stone for her and Sean’s day to give a nod to ancient records and artifacts! In a palette of burgundy, plums, emerald and dusty pinks we brought a modern bohemian vibe to the dessert with Egyptian touches.
The ceremony was given a beautiful focal point with a geometric brass arch, custom created by Folklore and adorned with florals and pampas grass from The Dainty Lion as vintage rugs were placed underfoot.
PAPER: Following the ceremony, friends and family left their mark at the sign in table where they chose from a stack of “open when” envelopes to leave their advice in that the couple could later open when “they need a laugh” or “have their first fight”. We always love sending our couple off with special mementos and advice they can continue to enjoy long after the wedding.
Guests found their names on laser cut individual leopard escort cards calligraphed by Twinkle and Toast as they were invited to find their spots. Chandeliers of greenery warmed up the ballroom to give it more of a jungle like feel.
STONE: Table numbers were thoughtfully placed on malachite pyramids and small leopard glass stones greeted each guest at their place settings. Brass cups and gold rimmed glass continued to offer sparkle to the tables that were draped in emerald velvet mixed with wood carved long tables.
After an intimate dinner guests sampled from the dessert table and found their favors in front of a well lit table of gathered candles and backed by a chinoiserie paper wall we had Back Up Backdrops create that read “perfectly and incandescently happy” , quoted from Kelsey’s favorite novel Pride & Prejudice. Guests were invited to take a candle of their choosing home after dancing the night away, and were reminded that they “lit up their lives”! We loved watching guest’s excitement as they realized that they got to handpick their favor! It was such a special way to end what had been such an incredibly special day! Wishes and love to Kelsey and Sean as they continue to make this world a little brighter together! It was such a joy getting to know them and their family!
