This Chicago-based couple was an absolute joy to work with. While living in Chicago and busy with work schedules, Nick and Missy put complete faith in us to create their special day.

Where it all began:
Nick is a musician in a band and Missy is a dancer. Their combined love of music, and the infamous words of The Beatles, gave us a jumping off point in creating their one-of-a-kind, young, fresh, stars and guitars wedding!
It’s difficult to predict when or where you will find inspiration, but as soon as we found this amazing, vintage, beaded guitar pin, we knew we had found something special and things quickly began to unfold. The Spanish-style pin gave us an amazing color palette to work with of jades, blues, tangerine oranges and chocolate brown. Adding a few special touches, the pin was transformed into Nick’s boutonniere. As intricate and unique as it was, it became one of our favorite details of the day!

The girls looked beautiful in their teal Lynn Lugo dresses.

Twigg Botanicals was yet again amazing. These flower boxes full of sunflowers and roses framed the start of the aisle. They were so incredibly bright and happy! Beatles sheet music was also turned into petal cones, which lined the aisle. Guests showered the couple with the petals after they were pronounced husband and wife.

We used varying sizes and colors of these paper lantern stars and strung them from the ceremony structure Twigg built on the croquet lawn at Rancho Valencia. It was quite breathtaking to look at, the couple standing under the stars with the sun behind them. The stars absolutely glittered.

Love they way they are looking at each other here. I live for these looks.

It was really such a gorgeous, sunny day and the ceremony spot at Rancho Valenica captured it perfectly. It’s always fun getting to work with Twigg and the team because we get to collaborate right from the start of the planning and designing process to create details in the florals that highlight the overall feel of the wedding. Twigg’s team created these rose petal aisle decorations in the shape of the musical bass and treble clef to hint at the love of music the couple shares.

Because our color palette included bright orange, we incorporated real, fresh oranges into the centerpieces throughout the wedding ceremony and reception. They looked good enough to eat!

The couple got to sneak away and get some great shots by Natalie of Natalie Norton Photography. Even though she was extremely pregnant, Natalie didn’t miss a shot…even if she had to climb on chairs or get down on the ground! We are always so impressed with how hard she works and love the way the pictures came out.

Stay tuned for more pictures from Nick and Missy’s reception!
