“If you never did, you should. These things are fun and fun is good.” said the wise Dr. Seuss.
..and we here at Amorology are in full agreement! Something new is
always what we are looking for and Christine and Bill were just that!
We never have done a wedding quite like this one and there was no
shortage of fun to be had thanks to our fun loving and playful couple
who met while playing adult co-ed soccer. Our bride grew up holding a
special place in her heart for Dr. Seuss books,
having had them read to her by her mother every night as a child.
Those books soon moved over and made room in her heart for Bill as
well..but her passion for the weird and the quirky became part of their
story. As an amazing talented graphic artist and Illustrator, Christine
couldn’t help but put her pens to paper and carry the Dr. Seuss imagery
into her graphics for the day and we couldn’t have been more thrilled
with the results! The escort cards were darling! Pinned within colored
painted frames of burlap backing they were coined with the phrase above
that read “oh the places you’ll go” inviting guests to find their seats
after a bright and a happy ceremony. The couple stood in front of an
arch custom painted and built with love by her dad as they made their
vows.
The palette of aqua, red and soft butter cream infused the sporty retro combination and was found throughout the event from the gorgeous shade tent that we brought in to the vintage glassware on the table, the linens and the dipped legs of the chairs. Old childhood favorite books were placed among flowers to mark the table names and guests were greeted with mini sketchbooks and pencils to evoke their own sense of wonder and doodling (one of the bride’s favorite pastimes) . In additon the bars were appropriately named “Bar 1 and Bar 2” in reference to “Thing 1 and Thing 2” where guests could order up one of the couples specialty drinks.
During the reception, guests played a good game of corn hole on custom created game boards (another family favorite) , indulged on layers of ombre aqua cake and danced the night away under the evening sky.
